Located
in the Mediterranean sea
on the north west side of the Greek island of Crete, 16 km west of
the town of Chania,
is the small tranquil coastal village of Maleme.
As is seen through our maps,
follow the small country lane to the south that links Maleme with
the village of Xamoudohori (using the signs when entering Maleme),
some 400m from the coastal road there are two salmon pillars on your
left, leading into the olive grove where the Villa is situated.
The village hosts a number of traditional taverns and cafes as well
as a super market, baker, butcher, a local doctor, pharmacy etc. The
beach is about 800m from Villa Stefanos. Depending on the previous
winter it may be peddly or sandy.
The
next village, Platanias (approx. 4km east ) has discos, bars and taverns
with endless night life.
Chania town (16 kilometers east), with it's historical Venetian port
is considered to be one of the most beautiful towns in the eastern
Mediterrenean region.
To the west, one can explore the rugged coast of Crete with quiet
sandy beaches. While to the south the mountains of Crete provide fascinating
scenery.
